A big update regarding the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 match, which is in uncertainty due to Pakistan’s boycott threat. According to latest media claims, Mohsin Naqvi and Pakistan are on the way to take a U-turn.
On the evening of February 9, RevSportz claimed on its social media post, “Pakistan will play its T20 World Cup match against India as scheduled on February 15 on #T20WorldCup.”
Breaking! Pakistan is scheduled to play its T20 World Cup match against India on February 15 as per schedule. #T20WorldCup
Following Bangladesh cricket team’s snub from the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, Pakistan went against the International Cricket Council and revealed that they will not be fielding against their arch-rivals India for the group stage matches of the premier tournament. The match is scheduled to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, which is a neutral venue between India and Pakistan.
It is believed that the Pakistan government has withdrawn the boycott of India’s match to show solidarity with Bangladesh. The government announced the decision days after a meeting between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. It was earlier reported that India’s call to boycott the match was heavily influenced by Naqvi, who is also the country’s interior minister.
Mohsin Naqvi can take a U-turn?
However, no clear statement came from PCB. The cricket board remained silent about its views regarding its match with India on 15 February. In an initial move, the International Cricket Council urged the PCB to reconsider its decision, as the boycott call could lead to many troubles for Pakistan cricket.
Despite the Council’s request, the PCB did not issue any clear statement on this matter. Meanwhile, T20 World Cup 2026 has started as per schedule. To resolve the matter, ICC representatives meet with PCB people to discuss the situation and find a way to resolve it. According to the latest claims, Pakistan may change its decision and issue an official statement before this very important match.
Salman Mirza also showed positive attitude
On the other hand, Pakistan fast bowler Salman Mirza told the press that he is not worried about the uncertainty surrounding his match against India; They will prepare themselves as per the programme.
Mirza told the press, “We are preparing for the entire World Cup. We will play according to the team we have to play. It will be the government’s decision. We will do whatever we are told.” Pakistan will take on USA in their second Group A match in Colombo on Tuesday evening.
If the latest reports and indications are to be believed, Pakistan is fully prepared to face India as per the scheduled date.
