On Wednesday, December 3, 37-year-old Indian national cricket team fast bowler Mohit Sharma officially announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.
Mohit Sharma shared an emotional retirement post on his official Instagram handle, where he thanked all those who supported him in his journey over the years.

Haryana fast bowler Mohit Sharma was a clever player with the ball and had a stellar 2011–12 Ranji Trophy season.
His success in domestic cricket helped him get an Indian Premier League (IPL) contract from Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and from there, his career took off as he soon got India caps.
The right-arm fast bowler made his ODI debut on 1 August 2013 against the Zimbabwe national cricket team in Bulawayo and his T20I debut came on 30 March 2014 against the Australia national cricket team.
Overall, he played 26 ODIs in his career, including the World Cup, and took 31 wickets at an average of 32.90 and an economy of 5.45. He also played 8 T20 matches and took 6 wickets at an average of 30.83 and economy of 8.04.
Meanwhile, in his Instagram post, the veteran fast bowler, who was recently seen in action for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, said:
“Today, with a heavy heart, I announce my retirement from all forms of cricket. From representing Haryana to wearing the India jersey and playing in the IPL, this journey has been nothing short of a blessing.”

Mohit Sharma thanked the Haryana Cricket Association, his mentor Anirudh sir and his wife for providing him adequate support in all difficult times. He said:
“A very special thanks to the Haryana Cricket Association for being the backbone of my career. And my deepest gratitude to Anirudh sir, whose constant guidance and faith in me shaped my path in a way that cannot be expressed in words.”
“Thank you to the BCCI, my coaches, my teammates, the IPL franchises, the props and all my friends for their love and support.
“Special thanks to my wife, who has always handled my mood swings and temper and supported me in everything. I look forward to serving the game in new ways. Thank you very much. An innings will forever be short of gratitude.”

After Mohit Sharma announced his retirement, many former and current cricketers including Manvinder Bisla and Mandeep Singh wished him all the best for the future.
