Earlier in the day, India’s acting captain Shubman Gill Won the toss and elected to field under overcast skies. The match was restricted to 25 overs per side due to morning rain, turning the ODI opener into a virtual T20-style shootout.
Afghanistan’s innings was a one-man masterclass conducted by the opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz. The dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman scored a sensational century and scored 102 runs in just 51 balls with the help of 8 fours and 8 sky-high sixes. Gurbaz single-handedly took the visiting team to a strong position of 142/3. However, Reddy made the big breakthrough by clean bowling Gurbaz, leading to a spectacular batting collapse.
