Zimbabwe, captained by Sikandar Raza, will wear a special retro-inspired jersey during the upcoming three-match T20 series against Shreyas Iyer-led India. The team will wear a kit reminiscent of the 1992 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup when they take the field for the opening match at the Harare Sports Club on Thursday.

The three-match series will start from Thursday, July 23.The remaining games will take place at the same venues on Saturday and Sunday. The Shreyas Iyer-led side will be coming into the series after a 4-0 defeat to England in the T20Is, while Zimbabwe recently lost their T20I series 2-1 to Bangladesh in Bulawayo.

Zimbabwe will wear a special retro-inspired jersey during the three-match T20 series against India at the Harare Sports Club. The design is inspired by the team’s iconic kit from the 1992 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

The 1992 World Cup was a landmark event in cricket history, as it was the first edition where teams wore colored jerseys instead of the traditional white jerseys. Zimbabwe’s new jersey blends a classic 1992 look with modern performance technology.

Shreyas Iyer eyes first T20 series win as India captain

India captain Shreyas Iyer will enter the Zimbabwe series under pressure after a disappointing white-ball campaign against Ireland and England. He is still looking for his first T20 series win as captain and will aim to lead from the front in the three-match contest.

India have dominated Zimbabwe in T20Is, winning 11 out of 14 matches. The teams first faced each other in June 2010, when India won by six wickets. Their most recent meeting came in the 2026 T20 World Cup, where India secured a comfortable 72-run victory.

India also has a strong record in the bilateral T20 series in Harare. They won the series in 2010, 2016 and 2024, including a 4–1 win under Shubman Gill. The only drawn series came in 2015, when both the teams were tied 1-1.

Zimbabwe’s memorable upset over India in 2024

Zimbabwe achieved a memorable 13-run win over the visitors at the Harare Sports Club in July 2024. India restricted Zimbabwe to 115/9, with Ravi Bishnoi taking 4/13 and Washington Sundar 2/11.

Clive Madande top scored with 29 not out, while Brian Bennett added a quick 22 runs. In reply, India’s batting collapsed and they were all out for 102 in 19.5 overs.

Abhishek Sharma was out for duck, while Ruturaj Gaikwad, Riyan Parag, Rinku Singh and Dhruv Jurel failed to reach double figures. Shubman Gill scored 31 runs and Washington Sundar added 27 runs. Tendai Chatara and Sikandar Raza took three wickets each to give Zimbabwe a famous victory.
