Zimbabwe Test team announced for New Zealand series, big names withdrawn

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) announced a 16 -member squad for its upcoming two -match Test series against New Zealand on Monday, July 21, 21 July. The ZC has also confirmed that both will host the test matches against Bulawayo’s Queens Sports Club New Zealand National Cricket Team.

The first Test is to be played on 30 July, while the second and final Test match will be played between the Zimbabwe National cricket team and the New Zealand National Cricket Team from August 7. There are some significant changes from the test side that have recently been facing South Africa at home.

ZC announces squad for New Zealand tests

The ZC said that Ben Curan returned to the test team for the upcoming testing series against New Zealand after recovering from a hand injury. The recent test series against South Africa was missed by a hurt injury. Apart from the English-Zimbabwee batsman Sikander Raza, Roy Kaya and Tanunurwa Makoni also returned to the test team after remembering the protiaz tests.

However, Takudzwashe Ketano, Prince Masvyor, Vesli Madhavre, and Kundai Matigimu have been removed from the test team as the big names are set to return to national duty in whites for the exciting home chain against Kiwi.

In large-scale boost for the hosts, young batting sensation Brian Bennett is back in Guna after recovering from a fusion, which excluded him from the mid-series against South Africa. Bennett’s return meant that Donon Myers, who was brought as a cover, lost their place in the test side.

Zimbabwean Eyes take revenge in bulawayo

Craig Erwin will continue to lead Zimbabwe’s cricket team, experienced players and Ashirwad Mujarabani, such as Scene Williams, were expected to play an important role as they aim to make a strong comeback against New Zealand after South Africa whitewash at home.

The upcoming two-match test series will be the first red-ball encounter between Zimbabwe and New Zealand since 2016, when Kiwi last visited Bulveyo for a two-match Test series and whiteed the hosts.

Now, after almost a decade, they are aiming to take a correct revenge at the same place, recently played some good cricket against the Proteas side.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe’s team is currently hosting New Zealand and South Africa, which is in the T20 Tri-Nation series. The hosts are yet to open their account under Alexander Raza’s captaincy, as both New Zealand and South Africa have already won two T20I games.

On Sunday, South Africa crushed the hosts out of the title by 7 wickets in the fourth game of the ongoing T20 Tri-Nation series.
