We are happy to welcome Brendon back to Guna – David Mutenda

In an official statement issued by ZC, David Mutenda, selector of Zimbabwe selectors, said he is happy to bring Brendon Taylor back to the squad. He said:

“We are happy to welcome Brendon back to Guna. Their experience and quality are invaluable, especially in pressure conditions, and there will be no doubt in their presence that pick up the dressing room.

“This squad has been selected to give us the best opportunity against a strong Sri Lankan side. We have combined the proven match-winner with the players who are hungry to make their identity, and it will be important to mix the experience and energy because we make infections at a rapid pace of Odis from red-thorns.”

Meanwhile, Chevron’s head coach Justin Samans said that he would expect to bounce back after a poor performance in recent red-ball matches at home. He said:

“We have just come out of a hard red-ball chain, and now it is about adjusting the tempo and intensity of one day cricket. Sri Lanka is a strong white-alliance side and will punish any laps, so we need to be faster than the ball. We need to understand the clarity in the roles. What is necessary for each player.

In addition, Captain Craig Ervin highlighted the importance of flexible and well -prepared to achieve results in his favor in the Sri Lanka series.

“Switching on white-ball cricket from red-ball is always a test, especially against a team of Sri Lankan Caliber. We need to make the most position of our home to stay flexible, return our plans and compete strongly in both matches.”
