Chris Gayle Slam Vian Radder not to go after Brian Lara’s world record

Former West Indies Superstar Chris Gayle Reflects on the rarity and importance of scoring triple century or higher in Test cricket. He emphasized that reaching 400 runs in an innings is a lifetime opportunity and not some players often face. According to him, if he got a chance to achieve that milestone, he seized it without any hesitation.

“If I can get a chance to get 400, I will get 400. It doesn’t happen often. You don’t know when you are going to triple century again. At any time you get this kind of chance, you try and make the best out of it,” Gayle told TalkSport.

Gayle suggested that Mulder showed unnecessary generosity to remain untouched or perhaps under pressure. He questioned the mentality behind such a decision, arguing that chasing the record defines a great cricketer.

“But he was very generous and he said that he wanted a record to live with Brian Lara. Perhaps he was nervous, he did not know what to do in that situation. Come, you are at 367, automatically you have to take a chance in the record. If you want to become a legend, you are going to be a legend? Records come with a legend.” Gayle was added.

‘This was an error from his side: Gayle on Mulder

Gayle described the task of not trying to reach 400 as a mistake, whether the Mulder eventually achieved it or not. He admitted that the Proteus Star made his choice and explained his reasons, but it was a major lapse opportunity. He gave it a chance “once a lifetime” and clearly told the “youth” that he had “blowing it a big time,” a humorous yet expressing his strong disappointment in a pointed manner.

“I think it was an error from his side, not to try and go to get it. We do not know whether he would move forward and achieve it or not. But he declared 367 and he said what he has to say. But listen, it is once to get 400 runs in a test match. Youngster, you give it a big time!” Gayle added further.
