Legendary Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is on the verge of stepping into a new chapter of his cricket journey, and this time, taking up a full-fledged coaching position in the IPL. Yuvraj Singh is all set to replace Justin Langer as the head coach of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

After a few poor seasons under Langer, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are looking to overhaul the backroom staff after parting ways with Zaheer Khan. The next name on the radar is that of great Australian Langer, as the franchise looks for an Indian personality to turn the fortunes around.

As per InsideSports report, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka is in advanced talks with Yuvraj Singh, and if everything goes as per plan, the two-time World Cup winner’s appointment will mark his coaching debut in IPL 2026, where he can redefine the culture and mindset of the team.

The move comes at a crucial time for LSG, which has struggled to find consistency over the past two seasons. The Lucknow-based franchise has failed to reach the IPL playoffs for the last two seasons, prompting the team management to look for a complete reboot.

LSG has already started revamping its support staff after Zaheer Khan stepped down from the post of bowling consultant. The addition of Kane Williamson as a strategic advisor was the first big step, and now, the possible arrival of Yuvraj signals even bigger changes ahead of IPL 2026.

If finalized, this will be Yuvraj Singh’s first coaching stint in the IPL, where he once reigned as one of the most explosive players. Goenka is interested in him because of his growing influence as a mentor to some of India’s brightest young talents, including captain Shubman Gill.

The former Indian all-rounder has been working closely with players like Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh at his training base in Chandigarh. Even Gill and Abhishek have openly credited the World Cup winner for their success at the highest level.

His practical approach, focus on mental strength and match-like training drills have helped transform many youngsters into confident, attacking players, and these qualities fit LSG perfectly to turn around their fortunes in the Indian T20 league currently.

Yuvraj’s possible arrival could especially benefit LSG’s young Indian talents like Ayush Badoni, Devdutt Padikkal and Ravi Bishnoi, who have shown promise but lack consistency, and the team could adopt the aggression and fearlessness under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant.

For Yuvraj, this potential move is a big turning point. After a brief stint as a mentor in the Abu Dhabi T10 League, this role will officially launch him into the elite IPL coaching circles. If Yuvraj joins LSG as head coach, it will end Langer’s association with the franchise.

Earlier, talks were going on for Yuvraj for a bigger role with Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans.
