Former Punjab Kings captain Yuvraj Singh trolled the team’s players on Instagram as his antics on the social media site took the internet by storm. Although Yuvraj is not yet officially associated with the franchise, he shares a close bond with many of its players, especially those from the Punjab state team.

Over the years, Yuvraj Singh and the players have joked with each other on social media, with Yuvraj acting like a pseudo-disciplinarian.

Harpreet Brar’s Instagram post

Yuvraj Singh’s joke came in the form of a comment on spinner Harpreet Brar’s post. Brar posted on Instagram after Punjab Kings’ win over Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday. Brar posted a picture of himself with Priyansh Arya and Arshdeep Singh in the PBKS team bus.

In the image, Brar labeled Arya as “slogger” and Arshdeep as “vlogger”. Arya has developed a reputation as a power-hitter due to his high strike rate, while Arshdeep Singh’s reputation as a prankster comes through his vlogs.

In this year’s IPL, Arshdeep is in trouble due to his vlogging. Both the BCCI and the Punjab Kings franchise have pulled him up over this behaviour. Ironically, neither Arshdeep nor Arya really performed in PBKS’s win over LSG on Saturday. Arya was out for zero on the very first ball while Arshdeep lost 52 runs in three overs.

Yuvraj commented on the post, “Tuhade sariyan de chaplaan da time ho gaya hai hoon!” The crown prince’s comment translated as, “The time has come for you all to be beaten with slippers.”

As mentioned earlier, Yuvraj was playing in an undisciplined manner for the Punjab Kings players. Yuvraj Singh and his spat with Punjabi players has been a viral topic on social media for a long time.

Yuvraj Singh for Punjab Kings

Yuvraj played a total of four seasons for PBKS. He played the first three seasons between 2008 and 2010, before returning in 2018. In the first two years, he also served as team captain. Kings XI Punjab, as they were known at the time, reached the semi-finals in 2008, but not in 2009. Overall, Yuvraj scored 959 runs in 51 matches for last year’s runners-up.

Yuvraj averaged just 22 for the franchise while scoring 128 runs and scoring 3 half-centuries. He also contributed with the ball, especially in 2009 when he became the only player to take two hat-tricks in an IPL season. Overall, Yuvraj took just 14 wickets for the Kings at an average of 29 and an economy of 7.4.

punjab kings qualification scenario

PBKS’s win over LSG on Saturday has kept their hopes of qualifying for the IPL 2026 playoffs alive, but they are still dependent on other results.

On Sunday they have to hope that MI beats RR and DC beats KKR. If RR beats MI, PBKS will be out. If KKR beats DC then Punjab will have to hope that KKR’s net run rate does not exceed their net run rate.
