Yuvraj Singh called Jasprit Bumrah a ‘goat’, Michael Vaughan claims, ‘batsmen are afraid of fast bowlers’

Jasprit Bumrah has been one of the greatest bowlers of this generation across all formats. The skill set of the Indian speedster is on a different level; He has every skill to bowl in Test matches, ODI and T20 also. Bumrah has been one of the key players in India’s success across all formats, even overseas.

Jasprit Bumrah was the player of the match for his exceptional bowling of 4/15 against New Zealand in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. He finished as the joint leading wicket-taker in the tournament along with his teammate Varun Chakravarthy, as both took 14 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah’s deceptive action makes him more special than other bowlers of this generation.

Jasprit Bumrah is the best bowler of all time

Jasprit Bumrah is currently playing for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026; However, he is going through a tough phase at the moment as he has failed to take wickets in the tournament so far. Ahead of MI’s next match, former MI and World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh shared the memory of facing young Bumrah in the nets.

While talking on the podcast of former England captain Michael Vaughan, he took the name of overlap cricket. Yuvi shared his experience of facing the best bowler of this generation at just 16 years of age. Vaughan and Yuvi discussed Jasprit Bumrah’s spell in the T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final against England, which helped India win the game.

He[Jasprit Bumrah] Have to be the best – Yuvraj Singh

Michael Vaughan was amazed by Bumrah’s talent and spell against England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and the former captain said, “Mate, I have studied him for a long time. We have all seen some great bowlers, but he is the best I have seen.”

Yuvraj Singh said, “Looking at the way the game is developing, he has to be the best because he is consistently doing well. Batsmen don’t go after him. In fact, they are almost afraid to attack him – they prefer to rotate the strike and target other bowlers. And the moment they try to go after him, he is not allowed to do so.”

I want to get this kid out of the nets – Yuvraj Singh on facing young Bumrah

Yuvraj Singh praised Bumrah for his exceptional skill set and described his action as deceptive, which makes batsmen afraid to charge the fast bowler, and also, the fast bowler does not allow any batsman to have much control over his bowling.

Yuvi further added, “He is incredibly smart. Obviously, he has great skills too, and his action is deceptive. He is very difficult to pick, especially with the ball coming out of his hand. I remember when I was trying to make a comeback into the team after recovering from cancer. He was about 16 years old then, around 2013, and he was bowling rockets in the nets.”

“I actually told him, I want to get this kid out of the nets. Stop bowling to me, because I was just trying to get back into rhythm. He was bowling so fast. Later, he told me the story that he was bowling to me, and I told him to stop because he was so fast.”

“Even at that time, he had the same tippy-toe run-up,” Vaughn said. Yuvi replied, “Maybe he didn’t have all the skills yet, but he was extremely quick. He gets deceptive bounce with his action and keeps hitting your ribs. As a batsman, you really don’t like that.”
