While the entire nation was celebrating Abhishek Sharma’s whirlwind half-century, his mentor and mentor Yuvraj Singh decided to take a witty quip on him. Abhishek Sharma scored a half-century in 14 balls in Guwahati last night, which is now the second fastest half-century by any Indian batsman in the T20 International format.
Guess who is the batsman who has scored the fastest half-century in T20I? It was none other than Yuvraj Singh. Sharma came very close to breaking his mentor’s all-time record during the India vs New Zealand 3rd T20I at the Barsapara Stadium and missed it by just two balls. Yuvraj reached the half-century mark in 12 balls and Sharma in 14 balls.
Abhishek Sharma’s record breaking innings
During the presentation ceremony, for an obvious reason, Sharma was asked about Yuvraj’s record. Like before, this time too the attacking batsman decided to stay close to the ground and said that it is almost impossible to break the record made by the former international batsman.
Abhishek Sharma said after the match, “It is impossible to beat Yuvraj Paaji’s (Yuvraj Singh) half-century in 12 balls.”
Yuvraj Singh brutally roasted Abhishek Sharma
On the other hand, former cricketer and all-time record holder Yuvraj Singh made a funny comment on Sharma. Singh jokingly said that Sharma’s batting was extremely good in Guwahati, but it was still not enough to break his record of a half-century in 12 balls.
“Still can’t score 50 off 12 balls, can you? Well played – stay strong!” Yuvraj Singh wrote on his ‘X’ post on the night of 25 January.

It is worth noting that Yuvraj Singh scored a half-century in 12 balls during the much-hyped match of India vs England ICC T20 World Cup 2007, when he smashed English fast bowler Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over.
