Team India’s Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill has enjoyed a remarkable year with the bat across all formats in international cricket. The right-handed batsman finished the year as the leading run-scorer across all formats, with his increasing leadership role in Tests and ODIs for the national cricket team.
The 2025 season turned into a run-fest in international cricket, with the batsmen making a big impact across all formats. Players of many teams have consistently performed well for their team in Test and limited overs cricket. While some impressed with control and consistency, others played fearlessly aggressively.
Shubman Gill finished as the leading run-getter in 2025 across all formats
Shubman Gill enjoyed a successful year in international cricket in 2025. The right-handed batsman finished as India’s leading run-getter across all formats, particularly with consistent performances in red-ball and one-day cricket.
Gill ended the year with 1,764 runs in 35 matches at an average near 50, including seven centuries. In Tests, he scored 983 runs in nine matches at an excellent average of over 70, including several centuries against England and the West Indies.
He added 490 runs in 11 ODI matches, which included two centuries. However, Gill struggled in the T20Is and could only score 291 runs in 15 matches. As a result, despite his success in Tests and ODIs, he was dropped from India’s T20I squad and replaced by Ishan Kishan for plans for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
