India suffered a significant blow in the post-lunch session when Ravindra Jadeja removed South Africa captain Temba Bavuma in a game-changing moment thanks to a brilliant effort from Yashasvi Jaiswal on the first day of the second and final Test in Guwahati.
Temba Bavuma started showing more aggression after lunch, he wanted to attack Ravindra Jadeja, but his intention landed him straight in trouble. In the 59th over of the Proteas innings, Jadeja bowled a carefully pitched ball around the off stump, prompting Bavuma to attack.
Yashasvi Jaiswal took a diving catch and Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Temba Bavuma.
And the South African captain tried to move forward and lofted the ball over the infield, aiming for deep mid-off. But Bavuma sent the ball straight to Yashasvi Jaiswal from the inside of the bat. The Indian opener was in perfect position on the boundary line and took a brilliant diving catch.

Temba Bavuma was out for 41 off 92 balls, ending the biggest partnership of the series so far – a strong 84-run stand with Tristan Stubbs. He struggled for 41 runs in 92 balls and hit five fours, but Jadeja’s clever bowling and Jaiswal’s sharp fielding nullified all his efforts.
With this wicket, India broke the crucial 84-run partnership between Temba Bavuma and Tristan Stubbs and put South Africa on the backfoot in the ongoing final Test in Guwahati.

India tightens grip on South Africa in Guwahati Test, Kuldeep Yadav shines
Meanwhile, India’s star wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav took his third wicket by dismissing Wiaan Mulder for 13 runs on the first day of the ongoing final Test in Guwahati. Before removing Mulder, Kuldeep troubled the Proteas batsmen with his spin and removed Tristan Stubbs and Ryan Rickelton.
While the Indian bowlers are gradually regaining control, aiming for more breakthroughs to keep South Africa under pressure, Senuran Muthuswamy (9*) and Tony De Zorzi (18*) are currently holding the South African innings in check following a top-order collapse in Guwahati.

The Proteas had initially taken control of the innings after early setbacks, but India’s attack led by Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep brought them back into the game. Bumrah took crucial wickets in the first session, while Kuldeep and Jadeja combined to deliver consistent breakthroughs, ensuring that South Africa were unable to build the big partnerships needed to win the match.
Rishabh Pant became the 38th Test captain of India
Earlier, India’s stand-in captain Rishabh Pant lost the toss as Temba Bavuma chose to bat first in Guwahati. Pant became the 38th captain to lead India in Tests and the second wicketkeeper after MS Dhoni to do so. He made two changes, bringing back Nitish Kumar Reddy and Sai Sudarshan, as captain Shubman Gill was ruled out of the game with a neck injury.
Axar Patel made way for Reddy, while Sai came in for Gill. On the other hand, South Africa has included spinner Senuran Muthuswamy in the team in place of Corbin Bosch. Currently, South Africa’s score is 225/5, with Kuldeep taking three wickets in Guwahati.
