Yashasvi Jaiswal reveals Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s influence on his cricket career

Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Yashasvi Jaiswal admitted that teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi is forcing him to raise his game. Jaiswal and Suryavanshi performed brilliantly during the 27-run win over Mumbai Indians (MI) Barsapara Cricket Stadium in IPL 2026 on Tuesday, April 7 in Guwahati.

Match officials were forced to reduce the match to 11 overs per match due to severe hailstorm. “The way he is playing is tremendous. He is working very hard, so I get motivated as well – I think I also need to develop some different shots. If he is challenging someone, I keep giving him positive messages – that you can go after him, just play freely, play cool.”

Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi destroyed the Mumbai Indians bowling attack.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi Made an explosive partnership of 80 runs in just 30 balls to put pressure on the bowling attack of Mumbai Indians. Jaiswal gave the initial momentum to Rajasthan Royals by giving 22 runs to Deepak Chahar in the opening over.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi showed no fear and hit a six on the very first ball. Kishore then produced another maximum against the top fast bowler. He scored a quickfire 39 runs in 14 balls before hitting a full delivery straight to extra cover, where Tilak Verma completed the catch off Shardul Thakur.

However, Jaiswal continued the attack from the other end. He mixed innovative scoops and uppercuts with traditional strokes. Jaiswal helped by remaining unbeaten Rajasthan Royals Post commanding total of 150.

Mumbai Indians struggle during short run chase in Guwahati

Chasing the target of 151 runs Mumbai Indians Had to struggle to gain momentum from the beginning. Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma failed to connect their shots and were out early in the run chase. Suryakumar Yadav played a lap shot for six runs but was out soon.

Hardik Pandya also could not accelerate against the disciplined bowling attack of Rajasthan Royals. Mumbai Indians kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Sherfane Rutherford scored 25 runs from eight balls, before Sandeep Sharma completed a sharp lower catch.

Rajasthan Royals fast bowlers Nandre Berger and Sandeep Sharma made good use of their versatility and took two wickets each. Leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi also took two wickets to restrict Mumbai Indians to 123/9.

Yashasvi Jaiswal won the Player of the Match award for his excellent batting performance in the rain-interrupted game.
