The 23-year-old, who last played a T20I for India in July 2024, will join the defending champions for the remainder of the tournament. The update comes just a day after he helped India win the ODI series with a match-winning century in Visakhapatnam.

Rohit Sharma may join Mumbai for the next round of SMAT 2025 matches
Mumbai will miss Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dubey and Ayush Mhatre in the Super League stage of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025. Surya and Dubey will be with the Indian team for the five-match T20I series against South Africa starting December 9 in Cuttack.
Ayush Mhatre, who is the top run-scorer in SMAT 2025 with two centuries, will also be unavailable. He will travel to Dubai to lead the India U19 team in the U19 Asia Cup starting on December 12.
