Yashasvi Jaiswal ignores Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma after his brilliant century against Afghanistan

India vs Afghanistan 3rd and final ODI match has ended, India has won this match by 9 wickets. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a brilliant century in yet another run chase for the Men in Blue at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. He was excellent with Rohit Sharma, who also scored a brilliant half-century on the night, as India completed a clean sweep of the Afghans.

Chasing the target of 219 runs, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma made a partnership of 170 runs for the first wicket. The southpaw has scored two centuries and no half-centuries in six ODI innings, and both of his centuries have come while chasing runs for India.

Yashasvi Jaiswal knocked out after a brilliant century

Yashasvi was not in the team initially, but he was included in the team in place of Virat Kohli. The latter was ruled out of the ODI series against Afghanistan due to a hamstring injury. Yashasvi Jaiswal did not play in the first match, but in the last two matches he scored a century in the final match and highlighted the contribution of Rohit Sharma in his century.

Yashasvi Jaiswal played an inning of 110 runs in 86 balls with the help of 14 fours and three sixes. After the match was over, Yashasvi Jaiswal was present in the post-match show, where he credited Rohit Sharma for the century and also showed his love for the experienced India batsman and how the former Indian captain helps him.

Jaiswal said, “(on his conversation with Rohit) Of course, Rohit bhaiya.” [is] Always helpful. And I always ask them questions, ask a lot of questions and try to apply it to the game itself. Even today when I was getting a dot ball, I was asking what should I do then. He was telling me, just try to rotate the strike and the intention should remain there.”

“So I was keeping my composure and rotating the strike. That really helped me. And yes, I always enjoy being with him, playing under him and playing. Everything is the same, it’s amazing.”

Yashasvi has joined an exclusive list

After his amazing century, he joined an elite list of batsmen as he went past Shikhar Dhawan (7) and Virat Kohli (17) in the lowest number of innings to score his second century. The southpaw now tops the list after scoring in just 6 innings.

Apart from this, he also registered his name in the list of fastest ODI century against Afghanistan. He is joint seventh in the list after playing 83 balls. He is the fourth-fastest batsman as an Indian behind Rohit, Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan, the latter two coming in this series.
