Rajasthan Royals (RR) have been making headlines after their poor performance in the IPL 2025 season. There is a lot of speculation over the future of key Rajasthan Royals players including Sanju Samson and even Yashasvi Jaiswal ahead of the IPL 2026 auction.

It is almost confirmed that Sanju Samson is leaving the franchise, and even Yashasvi Jaiswal had reportedly considered the move, but captaincy assurances changed his mind. There were also reports that Dhruv Jurel was considering leaving the Royals, but these rumors have been put to rest.

The post immediately sparked rumors that he might be planning to leave the franchise. However, a few hours later, Jaiswal edited the caption, added an Indian flag emoji and changed the text to make it clear that he was referring to his upcoming national duties.

Amidst the ongoing uncertainty in the Rajasthan Royals camp, Yashasvi Jaiswal has started training with the Mumbai cricket team. The young opening batsman was recently seen joining Mumbai’s practice session as he begins preparations for the upcoming domestic season.

Currently, Jaiswal, who was one of the highest-paid players retained by Rajasthan Royals at a whopping sum of ₹18 crore, is preparing for Mumbai’s next Ranji Trophy 2025-26 match against Rajasthan, which begins from November 1 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

It is a matter of pride to play for Mumbai: Yashasvi Jaiswal

Earlier, in April 2025, the left-handed batsman had requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to switch to Goa for the current domestic season, but later changed his decision. Yashasvi has assured that he will always be available for Mumbai whenever he gets time from his national duties.

“It’s a matter of pride to play for Mumbai. So, whenever the schedule allows, I try to ensure that I am there to contribute,” Times of India quoted Jaiswal as saying.

Additionally, the Indian opening batsman stressed that playing in the Ranji Trophy is his personal choice and not a compulsion. He believes that domestic cricket is very important for a player’s development.

Shubman Gill vs Yashasvi Jaiswal

Recently, Jaiswal lost his place in India’s T20I team to Shubman Gill. Gill was promoted as India’s vice-captain in the format, and with Abhishek Sharma becoming the regular opening batsman and Sanju Samson taking over wicketkeeping duties, the Mumbaikar had to make way for Gill in the format.

They are both opening batsmen, but their batting styles make them very different players. Gill has played 29 matches and scored 742 runs from 519 balls, with his highest score being 126*. His average is 29.68 and strike rate is 142.96, which includes one century, three fifties, 81 fours and 25 sixes.

Jaiswal, on the other hand, has played 23 T20 matches for India so far, in which he has scored 723 runs in just 440 balls. His average is 36.15 and strike rate is 164.31. Apart from one century and five fifties, he also has 82 fours and 38 sixes to his name.
