Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is reportedly planning to release fast bowler Yash Dayal ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction after he is involved in an ongoing legal dispute. A woman has accused the 27-year-old cricketer of exploitation on the pretext of marriage.
Royal Challengers Bangalore are coming off their most successful Indian Premier League season. The team won its first IPL title after years of struggle. Several key players played important roles throughout the campaign, with Rajat Patidar becoming the first captain to lead RCB to a championship.
Ahead of the upcoming auction to be held in December, all the franchises including RCB are set to submit their list of retained and released players by Saturday, November 15.
Royal Challengers Bangalore may release Yash Dayal
Royal Challengers Bangalore may release Yash Dayal before the next IPL season. The franchise retained him for ₹5 crore after his impressive performances in the 2024 campaign, which also included the final over against Chennai Super Kings. However, his form dipped during IPL 2025.
The left-arm fast bowler played 15 matches and took 15 wickets at an average of 36.15 and an economy rate of 9.59. His inconsistency with the ball added pressure to RCB’s pace attack, which was already struggling to contain runs throughout the season.
Off the field, Dayal came into the limelight for the wrong reasons after a woman accused him of exploitation on the pretext of marriage. The RCB management will have to take a tough decision on whether to retain or release him ahead of the upcoming season.
Yash Dayal has been banned from Uttar Pradesh T20 League
Yash Dayal is facing serious legal problems. In July, an FIR was lodged against him under section 69 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS), accusing him of sexual exploitation, physical violence, mental harassment and cheating through false promise of marriage.
In response to the allegations, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) took disciplinary action in August by banning Dayal from the UP T20 League. He was also dropped from the Uttar Pradesh squad for the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy season.
With the case still under investigation, Dayal’s cricket future remains uncertain. The left-arm fast bowler is also likely to miss the Indian Premier League 2026 season.
Yash Dayal to make IPL debut for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022
Yash Dayal started his professional career with Uttar Pradesh in 2018. He has taken 84 wickets in 27 first-class matches and 66 wickets in 71 T20 matches.
Dayal made his IPL debut for Gujarat Titans (GT) in 2022, where he took 11 wickets in nine matches and played a key role in their title-winning campaign under Hardik Pandya. After two seasons with the Titans, he was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for ₹5 crore in the 2024 auction.
He became a vital part of RCB’s bowling attack and contributed significantly to the team’s maiden IPL title win, where they defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final.
