The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) named their playing XI for the fifth and final test of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against India on Wednesday, 30 July, which began at Oval in Kennington on Thursday, 31 July. England have made four changes in their Manchester Test XI.
In a major setback for the hosts, Captain and Star all-rounder Ben Stokes has been dropped from the final test against India due to the right shoulder injury. On the other hand, English spinner Liam Dawson, fast bowler Joffra Archer and Bridan Cars, will recall the fifth test at the Oval.

In the absence of Ben Stokes, who gave a record-bracing all-round performance in the fourth test through pain, Oli Pope would lead the England cricket team as they aim to achieve a five-match testing series in the Oval after a disappointing draw in the Manchester Test against India.

In his place, England is brought to Jacob Bethel, who is set to bat at number 6 in the final test. Surrey’s speed pair Gas Atkinson and Jamie Overton have also been nominated at the playing XI along with Fast bowler Josh Tongs of Nottinghamshire.
ECB said in an official media release, “England’s men’s team has announced four changes in its sheep for the fifth test against India. Ben Stokes are unavailable due to a right shoulder injury. Also missing that spinner Liam Dawson and Pace Baufra Arrous and Bryadan Cars. Side with Jeheb.
