
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Produced a brilliant all-round performance to register an impressive 61-run win over Gujarat Giants (GG) in the 12th match of the 2019 Indian Premier League. Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 At BCA Stadium, Kotambi, Vadodara.
After posting a competitive score of 178 for 6, RCB Women produced a disciplined bowling effort led by Sayali Satghare to restrict Gujarat Giants to 117 for 8.
Gautami Naik leads RCB innings with career best innings
Batting first after Gujarat Giants opted to bowl, RCB suffered early setbacks with the cheap dismissals of Grace Harris and Georgia Woll. Captain Smriti Mandhana led the innings with 26 runs, but the onus of rebuilding really fell on Gautami Naik.
The young batsman took advantage of the opportunity and played a composed and confident inning of 73 runs in 55 balls with the help of seven fours and one six. Gautami showed maturity beyond her years, punishing loose balls and rotating the strike cleverly. Her crucial 60-run partnership with Mandhana restored momentum and laid the foundation for a strong total.
Once settled, RCB accelerated effectively in the latter half of the innings. Richa Ghosh played a quick innings and scored 27 runs at a strike rate of 135, ensuring that the scoring rate remained good. Nadine de Klerk added stability in the death overs, remaining unbeaten, while Shreyanka Patil provided a brief but explosive finish.
Despite disciplined spells from Ashley Gardner and Kashvi Gautam, Gujarat Giants conceded 21 extra runs, which further boosted their morale. RCB’s total score is 178 runs for 6 wickets. – A challenging score on the Vadodara surface.
Sayali Satghare leads RCB’s brutal bowling performance
In reply, Gujarat Giants were never able to find any rhythm as wickets kept falling. The chase was soon derailed when Sayali Satghare removed Beth Mooney and Sophie Devine in the powerplay, leaving the Giants at four for two.
Sayali’s spell proved decisive as she took several important wickets including that of GG captain Gardner with impressive figures of 3/21. His ability to achieve movement and maintain a tight line kept the pressure on the batting side.
Gujarat’s middle order struggled to recover from the early loss. Anushka Sharma showed brief resistance while Gardner fought hard to score 54 off 43 balls but lacked consistent support at the other end. Radha Yadav and Nadine de Klerk complemented Sayali’s efforts, sharing wickets and ensuring that the required run rate increased rapidly.

By the end of the 20th over, the Giants’ score was 117 runs for 8 wickets. RCB’s fielding was equally fast, due to which the noose became tighter in the middle overs.
