Bihar captain Saqibul Ghani created history by scoring the fastest List A century by an Indian during the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025 match against Arunachal Pradesh. Ghani and 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi helped the state team register the highest ever score in men’s List A cricket, surpassing Tamil Nadu’s record.
Bihar won the toss and elected to bat first at the JSCA Oval Ground in Ranchi on Wednesday, 24 December. Suryavanshi played one of the most explosive innings seen in Indian domestic cricket. The left-handed batsman completed his century in just 36 balls. Before getting out, he scored 190 runs in just 84 balls.
Sakibul Ghani breaks the list of fastest century by an Indian
Saqibul Ghani created history by scoring the fastest List A century by an Indian. The Bihar captain completed his century in just 32 balls during the Vijay Hazare Trophy Plate group match.
Batting at number 5, Ghani attacked the bowlers from the start and quickly took control of the innings. Due to their aggressive approach, Arunachal Pradesh bowlers had no answer.
Ghani broke Anmolpreet Singh’s previous Indian record of century in 35 balls. He also surpassed Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s century in 36 balls, which came earlier the same day.
World record! Bihar recorded the highest team score in List A cricket history
Bihar created history by registering the highest ever team score in List A cricket during the match against Arunachal Pradesh. Bihar overtook Tamil Nadu’s previous record of 506/2, which was set in 2022, and moved to the top of the all-time list.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 190 runs in 84 balls, while Ayush Loharuka (116) and Sakibul Ghani (128) scored centuries. Piyush Kumar Singh also played an inning of 77 runs. Bihar scored freely throughout the innings and created a historic world-record in List A cricket.
