Former Team India captain Rohit Sharma faced a security lapse before the third ODI against New Zealand in Indore. In the video viral on social media, a woman managed to get close to the Indian batsman, citing her daughter’s illness and asking him for help, leaving the cricketer surprised before security arrived.

Rohit was recently seen in action during the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. Despite winning the opening match in Vadodara, the Men in Blue lost the ODI series 1โ€“2. Sharma scored 61 runs in three innings at an average of 20.33 and strike rate of 76.25. He failed to convert his starts in the first two matches.

Woman apologizes after Rohit Sharma incident, cites daughter’s medical emergency

The woman issued an apology and explained her actions. Sarita Sharma said that she had not approached Rohit Sharma for selfies or publicity, but out of desperation to save her daughter’s life.

He said his daughter Anika is suffering from a serious illness and needs an injection, which costs Rs 9 crore, which needs to be imported from the United States. Sharma said his family is raising funds through small camps and has collected Rs 4.1 crore so far.

“My name is Sarita Sharma. My daughter Anika is suffering from a serious illness and to save her we need an injection, which costs Rs 9 crore and has to be imported from the US. We are organizing small camps to raise funds and so far, we have managed to collect Rs 4.1 crore. We are running out of time,” the woman said in the clip.

“Yesterday, during the India-New Zealand match, we tried to reach out to the cricketers in the hope of getting some help. We also set up a donation camp during the match, but it was not enough. I was trying to meet Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, as they are helping children. In a desperate attempt to save my child, I went to the hotel where Rohit Sharma was staying. Emotions overcame me and I held his hand.”

The woman also apologized to the authorities and said she did not know how to ask for support. In his message, he appealed to Virat and Rohit to help him if they came to know about his situation.

“I want to appeal to Virat sir and Rohit sir. You must not know what I was trying to do. I did not come there to take any selfie; I just want to save my child’s life. I also want to apologize to the authorities for my actions. I don’t know what else to do. I request Virat and Rohit to please help me if they get my message.”
