Multiple media outlets have reported that Nair was informed about his appointment as head coach by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) officials last week, and a formal announcement will be made soon.

Nair, who will replace Chandrakant Pandit in the role of head coach, has previously served as the assistant coach of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and has worked at the KKR Academy.

He is known for his player-development work with many big names such as Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer, and his ability to spot young talent is highly praised in the Indian cricket circuit.

Rohit Sharma has a good bonding with Abhishek Nair

Abhishek Nair and Rohit share a great bond, and the former has helped the Indian great to transform himself and improve his fitness levels at the age of 38.

Nair revealed that when some pictures of Rohit went viral on social media in which he was looking heavy, he became insecure and then he decided to work hard to lose weight.

In several pictures and videos ahead of the Australia tour, Rohit and Nair were seen training together in the gym and on the field and the former India captain had lost more than 10 kg.

Work on fitness worked wonders for Rohit Sharma as he performed exceptionally well on the Australia tour and finished the series as the leading run-getter.

After failing in the first ODI, he scored 73 runs in the second game and 121* in the third game, winning the Player of the Series award. His success also helped him become the No. 1-ranked batsman in the ICC ODI rankings for the first time in his legendary career.
