The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced its final stance on participating in the ICC T20 World Cup. They have finally decided to follow their government’s order even if they qualify for the knockouts and have a game scheduled against India.
Pakistan’s stubbornness has spoiled the entire mathematics of the upcoming T20 World Cup. However, many people have claimed that this time the attack is not on India or BCCI, but on ICC, because it has not fulfilled the demands of BCB. He believes that the ICC had done the same to India for not taking part in the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan, so why not the same for Bangladesh when they refused to travel to India?
However, the ICC has mentioned on several occasions that Bangladesh’s matches could not be moved due to logistical challenges faced by tickets being already sold for the match being held at the Eden Gardens.
If PCB faces India again in the knockout, it will follow the government’s order.
Pakistan government allows PCB to take its team to Sri Lanka for ICC T20 World 2026; However, on 15 February he Boycott of the game against India at Premadasa Stadium continued.
The PCB also followed the decision taken by its government and hence, Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that they will make their plans clear to the ICC on Monday. This announcement was made live by the Pakistan government on Sunday.
As per the latest report, a PCB source has confirmed to PTI that the PCB will follow the government’s instructions even if they are placed against India in the knockout games in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
A PCB source said, “The board has also been informed by the government that the national team will not play against India on February 15 and points will be forfeited in the World Cup. As far as a situation where Pakistan may have to play against India in the knockout stage is concerned, the board will abide by any decision taken by the government at that time.”
PCB accused ICC of bias, said- one board cannot be allowed to run world cricket
Mohsin Naqvi, during his meeting with the Pakistan Chief Minister, had asked him to take a decision where he could keep himself in contention, but he had also made it clear that the PCB would agree to any decision taken by the government regarding the T20 World Cup issue.
“As far as the PCB is concerned, there has been a growing feeling for some time now that the ICC’s behavior is not in line with that of some other boards, most recently with Bangladesh, and that one board cannot be allowed to run world cricket,” the source said.
The PCB has blamed the ICC for only listening to claims made by one board (by which they hinted at the BCCI), and hence, they made the statement that the institution cannot be run by one board. These attacks intensified after former BCCI secretary Jay Shah was elected unopposed as ICC chairman.
ICC to cut Pakistan’s revenue for T20 World Cup
After Pakistan made a statement to boycott the game against India, ICC immediately issued them an ultimatum and warned them of consequences. Along with the results, the ICC had asked the PCB to reach a solution that is mutually acceptable and protects the interests of all stakeholders.
However, despite ICC warning of a cut in their T20 World Cup revenue, the PCB has not heeded the ICC’s stance on the issue. Many claims have been made that Pakistan’s revenue from ICC is negligible, which does not affect the board.
