Will Pakistan withdraw from T20 World Cup in protest against Bangladesh’s exclusion? Mohsin Naqvi issued official statement

Following reports of Bangladesh pulling out from the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026, a shocking development has come to light regarding Pakistan’s participation in the event. The Pakistan Cricket Board (BCB) is the sole supporter of Bangladesh in their battle with the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Big twist in T20 World Cup controversy: Pakistan can follow the path of Bangladesh!

After supporting Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) decision of not playing T20 World Cup 2026 matches in India due to security concerns, the PCB has decided to take an unexpected decision to show its support to the neighboring country in the ongoing controversy.

On January 24, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi made it clear that the final decision on Pakistan’s participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026 will not be decided by the board alone.

Pakistan Interior Minister Naqvi said that the Pakistani government will decide whether the national cricket team will participate in the global tournament or not.

PCB left the decision of T20 World Cup 2026 to Pakistan government

The PCB chief’s statement comes after the ICC reportedly confirmed Scotland as Bangladesh’s replacement in the upcoming showpiece event in India and Sri Lanka.

A senior Pakistani journalist quoted Mohsin Naqvi as saying, “The Pakistan government will decide the participation of the Pakistan team in the T20 World Cup.”

Mohsin Naqvi said, “Bangladesh is being treated unfairly. We had said in the ICC board meeting that ICC cannot adopt double standards, one system for one team and a different system for another team. Bangladesh should play in the World Cup.”
