Big Bash is all set to host the opening game of the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) season in India. The discussions that have been going on for several months are finally taking proper shape, which will certainly make Cricket Australia (CA) happy, as they will get the opportunity to explore the Indian market through their franchise league.
CA has been associated with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for a long time. At first it seemed far from reality.
Cricket Australia looking to host BBL opener in India
But now, as per the latest report published by Indian Express, CA can now dream of hosting the BBL opener in India. The upcoming season of the Big Bash League is scheduled to start from the second week of December 2026.
A CA representative said of the development, “We are not able to confirm anything. We are exploring the potential for Chennai to partner with the Australian government to deepen India-Australia relations. Nothing has been confirmed yet and we are working closely with our friends at the BCCI.”
