India and New Zealand will play the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Widely known as the hometown of ICC President Jay Shah, the historic encounter will witness the chairmen of several cricket boards associated with the tournament. However, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has not given any such indication.
India has qualified for the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 and will face New Zealand. New Zealand made an unexpected entry into the final after a convincing win against South Africa. India, on the other hand, played one of the highest-scoring semi-finals in T20 World Cup history to make it to the final.
The final will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and New Zealand will play the final, it has been learned via Cricbuzz that NZC president Roger Toose will be at the venue on Sunday night. Two other board chairmen, Zimbabwe Cricket’s Tavengwa Mukuhlani and Cricket South Africa’s Dr Mohammed Moosaji are also likely to be present.
Will ICC welcome Mohsin Naqvi to Ahmedabad for the ICC T20 World Cup final?
Although people from all over the world and presidents of many cricket boards can be seen at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, the absence of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is something that is making headlines.
Relations between the two boards, PCB and BCCI, have always been a matter of concern for the ICC and due to the occasional antics of Mohsin Naqvi, relations have become even more strained in recent times. Some of which include snatching the Asia Cup trophy from India and then not handing it over, or supporting the Bangladesh Cricket Board in their demand to change the venue from India to Sri Lanka.
At present, there is no immediate information about the presence of BCB President Aminul Islam, as he is currently in Melbourne. However, it is certain that Mohsin Naqvi will not be present.

India is on the verge of creating history in the T20 World Cup
Team India is truly on the verge of creating T20 World Cup history. By qualifying for the final of the T20 World Cup, they became the first team to do so as defending champions of the title.
In the past, Pakistan and Sri Lanka had played consecutive finals in 2007 and 2009 and 2012 and 2014 respectively. However, neither of them were defending champions, having won the title for the first time in 2009 (Pakistan) and 2014 (Sri Lanka).
The Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian team will have a chance to become the first team to win consecutive titles in the T20 World Cup, the first for any team to win the title on home soil and continue their legacy in the shortest format of international cricket.
