However, Hardik has missed a few occasions for Mumbai Indians due to his ongoing injury struggles. In his absence, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav has led Mumbai Indians on several occasions.

After their third win of the season, in which Ryan Rickelton played a big role with the bat, he was seen in the post-match conference for Mumbai Indians. The South African cricketer then revealed his relationship with Quinton de Kock.
He was asked for an update on his captain Hardik Pandya, who could not play in the match against Lucknow Super Giants. Ryan Rickelton revealed that he is suffering from back spasms, and that he is still unaware of the severity of his injury and unsure of his potential return.
“I don’t know when he is expected back. I found out this afternoon that he has back spasms, so I am unaware of the severity of it. I don’t want to call it an injury; I am unaware of how bad it is or what he is feeling. But I am sure he will be with the group again when we go to Raipur this week,” he said.
Suryakumar Yadav has led MI twice in IPL 2026
