Amidst their poor form in the ongoing IPL 2026 season, Mumbai Indians (MI) have made several surprising moves. They have changed several players in the playing combination for tonight’s game against Lucknow Super Giants.
MI captain Hardik Pandya has been dropped from the team. Suryakumar Yadav came for the toss in place of Pandya and informed about the replacements he made for the clash with Lucknow Super Giants.
Why is Hardik Pandya not playing tonight? As soon as MI’s playing XI was published and Yadav came to the field for the toss, this was the main question. Yadav told that Hardik Pandya is unwell to play the match tonight.
Why is Hardik Pandya not playing in LSG vs MI IPL 2026 match?
“He (Hardik) is not well tonight, so I am going in his place. Corbyn has come in place of Boult, Rohit is back.”. You can run away from the fact that MI is not known for this situation, put your hands up and play your best game. Can’t say it will make us dangerous, we have five games left and will try to win them,” said Mumbai Indians stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav.
Meanwhile, MI won the toss and elected to bowl first against Lucknow Super Giants.
“We would like to bowl first. (Any particular reason?) Nothing, it feels good. There is a bit of humidity tonight as well. No wind. In the second innings, we saw what happened here in the last 2-3 games. So it got a bit better. So just want to take advantage and give it to the bowlers,” Yadav explained.
After being out of several matches due to injury, Rohit Sharma is finally back in the playing combination. He has been named in the list of impressive players and is expected to take the field in the second innings when Mumbai Indians are chasing the target set by the away team, Lucknow Super Giants, at the Wankhede Stadium. Ryan Rickelton is also in their playing eleven, so it is expected that the opening pair of Rohit and Ryan will be seen in action again.
