The decision was taken by the Surrey County Cricket Club after the death of former English batsman coach. He died of suicide last year after suffering from mental health issues, his family accepted.

Why are English players and fans wearing white headbands on 2th of the 5th Test of India vs England?
Former English Stallvart, Graham Thorpe, is known as one of the monumental figures in English cricket, who has also contributed immensely to his domestic history. During his play days, Thornarp was seen donating a white headband.
With about 3 days to complete a year since his death, Graham Thorpe has also been honored by the players as well as fans that will be his 56th birthday. This gesture was part of a special day dedicated to Thorpe, while also raising awareness about mental health, a reason that the English cricketer eventually died.
The entire English game 11, Skipper Ben Stokes, as well as many former cricketers donated to the prestigious white headbands, which Thorpe made famous during his play time.
Today, Graham Thorpe must have been the 56th birthday.

Graham Thorpe, Wonderman for Surrey
Thorpe played 100 Tests for England and scored 6744 runs, while he played 82 ODIs before leaving the format in 2002. He played for the longest three Lions of the game till 2005.
With a trial average of 44.66, Thorp scored 16 hundreds and 39 fifties, with the highest test score of 200*, he became one of the best English middle-order batsmen.
However, more than England, he served Surrey in domestic competition, where he played from 1988 to 2005 till his retirement. After being played in 341 matches, he scored 21,937 runs on an average of 45 and 49 centuries on his name.
He is often considered one of the greatest Surrey batsmen with a comprehensive record at the Oval, which has been his home ground for such a long career.

After 6 wickets fell in the Indian innings on day 1, Atkinson had already selected two wickets, but he returned to day 2, as he bundled Indians in no time. India was excluded for 224, scoring just 20 runs at the loss of 4 wickets. Atkinson completed the innings with five wickets.
