Punjab Kings (PBKS) are currently taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 17th match of the ongoing IPL 2026 at the Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh on Saturday, April 11.
Punjab Kings wear black bands to show respect for Yamuna boat accident
Punjab Kings players came on the field against Sunrisers Hyderabad wearing black bands. This was a sign of solidarity towards the families affected by the tragic incident in Vrindavan.
The tragic accident occurred on April 10 near Keshi Ghat on the banks of river Yamuna when a boat carrying around 25 to 30 people suddenly lost balance and capsized in the water. The incident turned into a fatal disaster after the board collided with a floating pontoon drum left behind.

Most of the passengers were pilgrims and tourists from Punjab, especially Ludhiana and Muktsar. At least 11 people, including men and women, are said to have lost their lives so far, while several others are still missing.
A massive rescue operation was immediately launched under the supervision of the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, local police and army units of Mathura. It is being said that around 18 people have been rescued in this operation, but the search operation is still going on as the officials are still trying to find the missing people.
