He was injured while fielding in the second ODI in Cardiff and his left knee became swollen, due to which he was ruled out of the match. Arshdeep Singh was included in the eleven in his place, but he failed to make an impact with the ball.
The BCCI issued a statement on Bumrah not playing, in which they said that the fast bowler had suffered an injury while fielding. “Jasprit Bumrah suffered an injury to his left knee while fielding in the second ODI in Cardiff. He was not available for selection for the third ODI due to reactive inflammation in his left knee,” the statement said.
Jasprit Bumrah injury update: Expected return date and fitness status
There has been no official update on the severity of Bumrah’s injury. It is learned that he had to sit out of the last ODI due to swelling. As a result, the injury is likely to heal quickly, and nothing too serious has occurred. The Team India management will hope that there are no serious injuries that make him unavailable in the coming months.
As per our understanding, Bumrah will return to the Test team for the upcoming two-match Test series in Sri Lanka, which is scheduled to begin on August 15. To join the team before the series, one will have to pass a fitness test.

Bumrah made a spectacular comeback to ODI cricket after a gap of 968 days due to fitness issues and workload management. He bowled brilliantly in the first ODI against England and openers Ben Duckett and Jacob Bethel had no answer to his opening spells.
He bowled 1/31 in his 9 over spell in the first game and added pressure as other bowlers got wickets in the process. In the second ODI too, he bowled all 10 overs, giving 1/45; Although India lost the match, they bowled well.
