This series is important for us because it is our first series after the World Cup – Darren Sammy

West Indies head coach Darren Sammy believes that the upcoming T20 series against Sri Lanka is an important step for the team after the T20 World Cup 2026. He said that this series gives the players an opportunity to build on the positive qualities they have shown during the global tournament.

“This series is important for us as it is our first series in India since the World Cup, where the team played with the passion, fight and togetherness that West Indies cricket is built on. Our focus now is to build on those foundations, continue to grow as a team and make our fans proud with the way we compete against Sri Lanka.”
