Sydney Thunder were put to bat in slightly overcast conditions, but opener Litchfield quickly took control with his trademark beauty. The left-handed batsman carried the innings beautifully, scoring 61 runs from 43 balls, an innings laced with crisp drives, calculated sweeps and smart rotation of strike.
The Thunder lost wickets at regular intervals, but Litchfield kept one end steady, keeping the scoreboard ticking. His composed innings allowed the middle order to play freely, which helped the Thunder overcome the initial pressure and post a competitive total.
Despite late successes from the Heat bowlers, the Thunder scored 153/7 in 20 overs, a score that always felt above par on Drummoyne’s slick surface.

Chasing 154, Brisbane Heat needed a solid platform but did not get the desired start. Early wickets created immediate pressure, forcing the middle order to rebuild. annie o’neilHowever, offered resistance with a determined innings of 33 runs. He showed courage and patience and kept the heat afloat even as the required rate increased.
But with the Thunder bowlers holding tight and denying boundary opportunities, the Heat struggled to generate the required pace. Chasing the target, Brisbane never fully recovered from the initial shock and eventually finished at 130/6, 23 runs short of the target.
