Legendary Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was once again effective and scored the first breakthrough for the Indians. In the first 10 overs of the innings, the South African team scored quickly and completed its half-century.
India and South Africa are starting their first Test at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Shubman Gill once again lost the toss and opposition captain Temba Bavuma opted to bat first against an Indian attack featuring four spinners.
India has fast bowlers to lead the fast bowling attack, while the Indian team has only Mohammed Siraj as the second fast bowler. They have players like Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar as spinners in the team.
Jasprit Bumrah achieved success for the first time for India by taking the wicket of Ryan Rickelton.
Ryan Rickelton opened the innings for the South African team and scored regularly. He bowled at a strike rate of over 100 and even hit Bumrah for a four in his 5th over. After taking the Proteas past the 50-mark, Jasprit Bumrah came back to trouble his Timberwolves.
Jasprit Bumrah bowled 140+ balls on and around good lengths. The ball moved and was slightly off the deck, hitting the batsman’s outside edge and Rickelton playing on the wrong line while trying to defend it.
Rickelton was out after scoring just 23 runs after facing 22 balls in the innings. The 50-run partnership came with less than 60 balls played in the innings.
