The match began when India won the toss and elected to bowl first, setting the stage for an aggressive batting performance from Tim David.
The historic six came on the 5th ball of the 6th over bowled by Akshar Patel. The ball was perfectly bowled and bowled outside the off stump, prompting David to step forward and execute a lofted drive. He sent the ball flying straight to the ground with tremendous height and power at the right moment. It hit the top of the roof over the short boundary of the field, almost completely clearing the stadium before falling inside the ropes. The sheer distance of the shot, which measured 129 metres, was testament to David’s raw power and excellent technique against quality spin bowling.

David’s six not only thrilled the spectators but also put Patel on the backfoot in the opening spell. Bowling into the wind and facing a short boundary on one side, Patel struggled to contain David’s aggressive strokes. This tremendous hit was indicative of Australia’s aggressive intent, putting pressure on India’s bowling unit early in the innings.
