Temple visit before departure

Before the players left for their respective destinations after the spectacular win, several members of the Indian contingent took a spiritual retreat at a Hanuman temple in Ahmedabad. Suryakumar Yadav is shown in a video widely shared on social media platform X, Gautam Gambhir And Jay Shah was entering the temple premises holding the World Cup trophy aloft for the devotees to see.

The captain, who lifted the trophy in front of over 130,000 spectators at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday night, was seen in a calm and grateful mood while receiving blessings from the temple priest. Gambhir, the creator of India’s aggressive brand of cricket, also stood by, his usually intense demeanor replaced by a calm smile.

In a particularly touching video, the temple priest was seen performing a special aarti for the trophy, waving the sacred flame in front of the silver vessel as the players and officials watched with folded hands. The priest then applied tilak on the foreheads of Suryakumar, Gambhir and Shah and blessed them for their role in India’s historic achievement.

A video shared by news agency ANI captured the moment when Suryakumar held the trophy close and the priest offered prayers, with the morning sunlight shining off the silver vessel. The captain, known for his 360-degree strokeplay on the field, looked completely at peace in the spiritual atmosphere.

Jai Shah’s tribute to the Indian team

ICC Chairman Jay Shah, who played a key role in the successful conduct of the tournament in India and Sri Lanka, was seen interacting warmly with the players during the temple darshan. The video shows him congratulating Suryakumar and Gambhir, their shared happiness evident in the effortless body language.

Shah also congratulated the winning team on social media.
