Team India’s middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer failed to convert his half-century into a three-figure score during the second ODI of the three-match series against Australia. Veteran leg spinner Adam Zampa dismissed Iyer for his first wicket in the ongoing match at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide on Thursday, October 23.
Australian captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and decided to bowl for the second time in the series. The Australian fast bowlers performed exceptionally well with the new ball, restricting India to 17-2 in 6.5 overs. However, former captain Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer revived the innings by making a 118-run partnership for the third wicket.

Shreyas Iyer was out on the fourth ball of the 33rd over in India’s innings. Iyer scored 61 runs from 77 balls with the help of seven fours before being dismissed by Adam Zampa.
The right-handed batsman displayed excellent timing and placement to hit a full delivery through extra cover for four runs. However, Jampa made a comeback on the very next ball.

Omitted a match-winner in favor of Harshit Rana – Shashi Tharoor
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor criticized Team India’s decision to drop Kuldeep Yadav from the playing eleven in place of Harshit Rana in the second ODI against Australia.
Tharoor termed the decision as foolish and said that Kuldeep should have been included instead of a less experienced fast bowler like Rana.
“So Xavier Bartlett took just four balls to show the Indian selectors the folly of their decision to leave out the most powerful match-winner in their team, @imkuldeep18, in favor of a courageous fast bowler like Rana. It was wrong to leave out Kuldeep in England and it is absurd not to pick him in Adelaide.” He posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).
