How was Rohit Sharma’s performance in India vs Afghanistan ODI series?
Away from the airport incident, Rohit enjoyed useful performances in India’s recently concluded ODI series against Afghanistan. Although he failed to convert the start into a century, the opener looked in good form during the three-match competition.
The start of the series was disappointing for Rohit as he was run out on 16 runs in the first ODI due to a mistake while attempting a quick single. Despite initial setbacks, India easily achieved the target and took a 1-0 lead in the series.
Rohit responded strongly in the second ODI. He attacked Afghanistan’s bowlers from the beginning and scored 48 runs in just 39 balls with the help of six fours and two sixes. When a half-century looked inevitable, Rashid Khan bowled a brilliant ball to clean bowl him and his innings ended two runs short of the milestone.
The former Indian captain saved his best performance for the final ODI. Batting with authority at the top of the order, Rohit scored 79 runs in 69 balls, which included nine fours and three sixes. Rohit’s next assignment will be a three-match ODI series against England in July. The series will serve as another important step in India’s preparations for future ICC events, with Rohit expected to continue his dominance.
