Just a few hours after the uncertainty on Pakistan’s participation in the Asia Cup 2025 match against the United Arab Emirates, umpire Ruchira Paliaguruga was killed by Mohammad Haris.
Pakistan’s legendary bowler Wasim Akram reacted by shouting “Bullsai” before the umpire left during the UAE innings.
Pakistan won 41 runs over UAE in a group stage match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, 17 September.

The incident occurred during the sixth over of the UAE innings. On-field umpire Ruchira Paliaguruj was accidentally killed on the head. Saim Ayub was bowling for Dhruv Parshar, who placed the ball in the outfield and ran for the same.
The fielder gathered the ball clearly and threw it back into the wicketkeeper. Mohammad Haris tried to return the ball to the bowler, but he hit Ruchira Paliaguruj behind his head.
Ruchira Paliaguruga organized on his ear as Pakistan players and his physio participated to assist him to investigate a fusion. The game was briefly stopped before the inconvenience. Reserve Umpire Gazi Sohail, an experienced Bangladeshi officer who is named after more than 50 T20I, stepped into a replacement.

Pakistan makes it in Super 4 of Asia Cup 2025
Chasing 147, the UAE lost the initial wickets and fell to 37 for 37 in six overs. Rahul Chopra and Dhruv Parshar tried to stabilize the innings, but Pakistan tightened their grip as the home team was rejected for 105 runs. Chopra scored 35 runs off 35 balls, including one four and one six.
UAE captain Muhammad Wasim opted to bowl first. Saim Ayub recorded its third straight duck in the inaugural over, and the visitor fell to 9 for 2 in 2.4 overs. Fakhar Zaman and Salman Ali Aga added a 61 -run stand for the third wicket. Zaman reached a half -century off 35 balls.
