Team India fast bowler Harshit Rana recently showcased his quick wit and Delhi-style humor during a fan interaction at the airport, which went viral on social media platforms. The right-arm bowler jokingly asked, “Who is your main girlfriend?” When a fan placed his hand too close while taking a photo.
India has named a squad for the upcoming ODI in Australia. Shubman Gill will lead the 15-member squad with an eye on the ICC ODI World Cup 2027. In the pace department, Harshit, Mohammed Siraj, Prasad Krishna and Arshdeep Singh have been included along with young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy.

At the airport, Harshit Rana found himself surrounded by paparazzi and fans as he prepared to leave for his next assignment. The young fan, in excitement, grabbed Rana’s hand and pulled him closer while trying to take a selfie.
Rana asked humorously, “Arya, Arya, am I your main girlfriend?” Which is roughly like “Oh, am I your girlfriend or what?” The fan immediately pulled his hand back but continued with the photo.
The pacer, looking unaffected and smiling for the cameras, seemed well adjusted to the situation. Rana later mentioned that he was on his way to Australia, where he would represent India in both the ODI and T20I series.

Harshit Rana last played for Team India in Asia Cup 2025
Harshit is one of the few cricketers whose career has flourished under the mentorship of Gautam Gambhir. However, some critics have questioned the fairness of his selection, suggesting that Gambhir favored Rana due to their shared Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) roots.
Rana had a tough outing against Sri Lanka in the 2025 Asia Cup Super Force. The 23-year-old was given a tough fight by the Sri Lankan batsmen, finishing with figures of 1/54 in four overs. India achieved a win over Sri Lanka and completed the tournament.
Rana is still early in his international career, having played just 10 games across all formats since making his Test debut in Australia last year. He has claimed four wickets in two tests for India. The pacer has also played five ODIs, picking up 10 wickets at an economy rate of 5.69.
Consecutive Yes-Man to Gautam Gambhir – Kris Srikkanth picks Harshit Rana
Former selector Kris Srikkanth has criticized Harshit’s selection in the national team. Srikkanth also said that Rana is a constant yes-man to Gautam Gambhir, adding that he does not deserve a place in the team.
In a recent YouTube video he said, “You don’t pick some players even if they do well and take others even if they don’t. The best has to be like Harshit Rana and be a constant yes-man to be serious about getting selected.”
“You should start building towards the 2027 World Cup. But I think they are not. If you choose Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy among the prospects, you can say goodbye to the trophy,” Srikkanth said.
