The India national cricket team is getting ready for the important Test tour of Sri Lanka and Wasim Jaffer has already made a bold prediction. The former Indian opener believes that Shubman Gill has a much stronger team than Sri Lanka and they should win both the Test matches next month.
India will play a two-match Test series in Sri Lanka next month. The first Test will be played in Galle from 15th August, while the second Test will be played at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo from 23rd to 27th August.

Wasim Jaffer predicts 2-0 clean sweep for India
Ahead of the crucial WTC series in August, Wasim Jaffer feels the India national cricket team is stronger than Sri Lanka in every department. He believes that Shubman Gill’s team has a better batting order, strong bowling attack and enough experience to dominate the Test series.
The cricket pundit expects India to whitewash Sri Lanka in the upcoming Test series, adding that anything less than a clean sweep will be disappointing as they look much stronger than the hosts. Meanwhile, Sanju Samson gave a blunt message to the selectors on his India future.
Wasim Jaffer says India is stronger than Sri Lanka in every department
“I would say India should win the series 2-0. If you look at both the teams on paper, the Indian side is quite strong. So, if India does not win the series 2-0, it will be a disappointing result. Sri Lanka is a very good team; there is no doubt about that. But on paper, I think we are quite strong,” Wasim Jaffer said in a video on his YouTube channel.
However, Jaffer also reminded everyone that Sri Lanka has always been a dangerous team at home. They know their conditions well and have troubled many visiting teams over the years. Still, he feels there is enough quality in India to whitewash them.
India also has a good record in Tests against Sri Lanka. The two teams have played 46 Tests so far, of which India has won 22 matches, while Sri Lanka has won seven, and 19 matches have ended in draws.
Wasim Jaffer is against any changes in the top order for Sri Lanka tour
Meanwhile, Wasim Jaffer urged the team management not to make any changes in the top four. He favored young batsman Sai Sudarshan to continue batting at number 3.
The former opener also wants India to continue with KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal as openers; Sai Sudarshan should bat at number 3 and captain Shubman Gill should continue at number 4.
“I think the No. 3 spot suits him. Shubman is batting at No. 4 and is batting really well, so I don’t think there will be any changes in the top four spots anytime soon,” he said.
Jaffer wants Sai Sudarshan to get a long-term opportunity in Test cricket
Jaffer believes that SAI has shown good signs in the matches he has played and deserves a long stay in the Test team. He believes that the left-hander has the talent to become a regular player for India.
He concluded, “As far as Sai is concerned, all the selectors and even the captain have said that they want to give him longer responsibility. He has performed well in the recent series as well, so I believe he deserves that opportunity. He is a good player, a solid player, and he is only going to improve. He is the kind of character who will keep getting better.”
