Washington Sundar’s official statement on GT-CSK trade out, MS Dhoni will be angry!

Former CSK star Ravichandran Ashwin revealed that during a conversation with Washington Sundar, the Indian all-rounder seemed completely unaware of any such trade with Chennai Super Kings and added that he was not told anything by the Gujarat Titans.

Chennai Super Kings had their worst season in IPL 2025 as they finished the season as the last team in the IPL points table. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side could not perform well as MS Dhoni took charge of the team after the CSK skipper was ruled out with an elbow injury.,

Gaikwad will return as CSK captain in 2026 and is expected to strengthen his batting record. He will be supported by Mumbai youngster Ayush Mhatre, South African young Dewald Brewis and New Zealand youngster Rachin Ravindra.

CSK informed about signing Washington Sundar in place of Ravichandran Ashwin

Former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement from IPL in 2025 after a poor season. Ashwin has parted ways with his former franchise CSK and moved to a foreign league, as he registers as the first Indian player to play in the BBL.

After his retirement, CSK was looking for a replacement and they found the perfect option in the form of current Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar. Sundar replaced Ashwin in the Indian team in all formats and has now emerged as a successful cricketer in all formats.

Sundar played for Gujarat Titans last season after being brought in in the IPL mega-auctionAfter playing only 5 games, he scored 130+ runs and also took a few wickets. The Super Kings could use the all-rounder more as they are a more spin-reliant team since they play at Chepauk.

Ravichandran Ashwin rejects Washington Sundar’s trade with CSK

Ravichandran Ashwin was recently asked if Washington Sundar is going to CSK as his replacement. Ashwin said that he has spoken to the Indian all-rounder and it seems that he is not aware of any such move.

R Ashwin said, “I called Washington Sundar and spoke to him.”

Vashi said, ‘I don’t know anything about that business. The franchise has not communicated anything to me. I am happy with GT, my cricket has developed a lot here and I am happy with where I am right now.

CSK has walked away from talks on Sanju Samson

Chennai Super Kings have set aside their interest in veteran IPL campaigner and experienced wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson. Sanju Samson has played many matches for Rajasthan Royals and as their captain, he has also led them to the final of IPL 2022.

Samson has asked Royals to release him as he wants to explore more options in the IPL mini-auctionCSK, who were earlier interested in the trade, later rejected it due to some disagreements with the Royals, who had demanded players like Ravindra Jadeja in exchange for the wicketkeeper.

Samson’s stance is still unclear, as the Royals have also not confirmed his release yet.
