Ravichandran Ashwin said that promoting Washington Sundar to number 3 can make a place for Kuldeep Yadav in XI. He said that Kuldeep can be selected instead of the fourth seamor, allowing India to strengthen its spin attack without compromising a lot of compromise on the team’s balance.

“If you do not see Sai Reformson as your number 3 or a opener, there was no need to play in that position in the first Test. If you wanted Karun, they should have been played at number 3 immediately,” Ashwin continued.
“You played him in three and removed him and the next two tests batted there. Karun looks elegant and solid until he came out. It did not seem that he was in a hurry or under pressure. He would like to make a big score and seal his place. I would like it very much.
