25-year-old India National Cricket Team Young Spin-Bauling all-rounder Washington Sundar has joined a new team between Asia Cup 2025.
On Thursday, September 11, the Hampshire County Cricket Club announced that they were involved in the services of Washington Sundar for the County Championship matches.

The Tamil Nadu all -rounder is currently part of India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad as a standby. However, he, like other reserved players, has not traveled to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the tournament and when needed and when will be raised.

In the middle of the ongoing Asia Cup, Washington Sundar has signed an agreement with Hampshire County Cricket Club for the final two rounds of the county championship.
The Hampshire will take the Cooper Associates County Ground from 15–18 September to the Samarset in Tuntan and then lock the Surrey with Surrey at Utilita Bowl from 24–27 September.
Washington Sundar will be seen playing county cricket for the first time after 2022, when he played for Lancashire in both red-ball and white-ball formats.

In an official statement issued by the county team, Giles White, director of the Hampshire of Cricket, stated that he is happy to rope in Washington Sundar and supported him to play an important role for the side.
Cricket Director Gills White said in an official statement, “We are happy to bring Washington to the club for the county championship. This summer had an excellent series against England and he will play an important role with two big games against Somerset and Surrey.”
Sundar was recently seen in action in the High-Profiles Five-Match Test series against the England National Cricket Team, where he played an important role in leveling the series 2–2 in India.
The 25-year-old all-rounder, who is a favorite of Gautam Gambhir-led team management, showed the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in four out of five matches in 2025. He was not selected in the playing XI for the series-owner in Hadingley in Leeds, but was slapped in the team for the remaining series.
In eight innings with BAT, Sundar scored an average of 284 runs at 47.33, including a match-saving centenary at Old Trafford, Manchester. With the ball, he took 7 wickets at an average of 38.57, 3.64 economy and 63.57 at a strike rate.

India destroys the United Arab Emirates in its Asia Cup 2025 opening match
In the initial match of its Asia Cup 2025, Suryakumar Yadav -led side crushed the UAE National Cricket Team by 9 wickets at Dubai International Stadium.
To bowl first, India dropped the UAE for 57 as Kuldeep Yadav took 4 wickets and Shivam Dubey got three wickets. Chasing the target, Abhishek Sharma scored 30 runs before scoring 30 runs from Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav.
After India’s victory, experienced commentator Harsha Bhogle highlighted how India’s spin-rice approach exiting the play of star Pesar Arshdeep Singh. He said:
“Clearly India has decided to be a spin deep batting side. And it means that it is difficult for someone of Arshdeep Singh’s caliber. I am very keen to see how Sanju Samson fits in 5.”
