Team India’s off-spinner Washington Sundar clean bowled West Indies batsman Alec Athanase on the third day (Sunday, October 12) of the second and final Test match between the two teams. The spinner bowled out the left-handed batsman with a brilliant ball just before the tea break at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
India bowled out West Indies for 248 runs in the first innings. Kuldeep Yadav performed brilliantly by taking five wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja took three important wickets. Alik Athanaz scored the highest 41 runs. Taganreen Chanderpaul and Shai Hope got good starts but could not take advantage of it.

Mohammed Siraj gave West Indies early success in the ninth over of the second innings. Shubman Gill took a sharp catch to dismiss Tangnarine Chanderpaul. Siraj bowled a cross-seam ball which reached Chanderpaul (10 off 30) and was caught by Gill at short midwicket.
John Campbell and Alec Athanasz tried to finish the session without a loss. However, Washington Sundar bowled a near-perfect delivery to Castle Athanasz. The off-spinner turned the ball towards the middle stump before quickly moving away.
Athanaz, attempting a defensive push, was beaten due to late movement as the ball collided with his off stump. The left-handed batsman had to be dismissed after scoring seven runs in 17 balls. This was Sundar’s first wicket of the match and a dream ball for any spinner. Athanaje was shocked after being out.
