This is a bit of the item of a collector which is to see the root Miss A Sweep – Ian Ward
Speaking on Sky Sports, Ian Ward expressed surprise at the missing and bowling a sweep shot on the route. He said:
“This is a bit of the item of a collector, which is to see a sweep to Route Miss. Maybe he is distracted by his bat handle, who knows? Stokes and Route were starting to feed India’s spinners, but Washington has only got rid of England’s best.”
Meanwhile, Alastair Cook, speaking on the BBC Test match special, felt that Joe Root missed the shot, resulting in his dismissal. He said:
“This was a little misconduct with the root. I think he found his effect a bit wrong.
In addition, former England spinner Phil Tuffnell spoke of Washington Sundar and dismissed Jamie Smith and said:
“A group bit, not really bouncing, it’s just line and length. Smith went back to a full ball and has gone to the outside edge and clipped the closed stump. The arm ball or a duffer’s cute way and he has also done it for the length. It is really open to the game.”
