Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are currently eyeing several Indian stars to make a comeback in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026).
The five-time IPL champions are set to make a major overhaul in the upcoming IPL 2026 auction in December.
Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar is reportedly on the radar of Chennai Super Kings for the upcoming season.
They want a proper all-rounder, especially an off-spinner, and Sundar fits their need perfectly. However, there has been no official statement on the move, as he is currently part of Gujarat Titans.
CSK target Mohammed Ali and Sonu Yadav for IPL 2026
Amid the buzz over Sundar, CSK are reportedly keeping a close eye on two young Indian all-rounders ahead of the next IPL season. Mohammad Ali, who can contribute with both the bat and off-spin, has impressed many with his consistent performances in domestic cricket.

Ali’s patience and ability to adapt to different match situations has attracted CSK. Along with him, fast bowling all-rounder Sonu Yadav, who has previously been a part of RCB, is also on the radar of CSK.
Yadav’s recent performances in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), including a hat-trick, have attracted the attention of many franchises including the Chennai team.
If things go as expected, both Mohammad Ali and Sonu Yadav could soon find themselves in the yellow jersey in IPL 2026, as CSK will continue to support young and talented all-rounders for the future.

Statistics show the potential of Mohammad Ali and Sonu Yadav
Notably, young all-rounder Sonu has so far played six first-class matches, 11 List-A games and six T20 games, in which he has scored 123, 82 and 17 runs respectively.
The fast bowler has 20 FC wickets, 10 List-A and 9 T20 wickets to his name. However, the right-handed batsman is yet to make his IPL debut.
Tamil Nadu’s Mohammed Ali, on the other hand, has played only 18 matches across all formats so far, and the off-spinner has taken only 11 wickets. He is also a reliable batsman, having so far scored 327 runs in 9 FC games, 204 runs in 6 List-A games and 46 runs in 3 T20s.

CSK plans major changes after nightmare IPL 2025 season
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings are preparing for a major overhaul ahead of IPL 2026 after a nightmare season in 2025, where they finished bottom of the points table.
The poor performance left fans heartbroken and the CSK team management is determined to come back stronger than ever.
In view of this, big changes are expected, but the team will not start from zero. It is being said that around 16 players are likely to be retained ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, which will be a balanced core of experienced leaders and young talent.
The list is likely to include reliable veterans like MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja, consistent performers like Shivam Dubey and Mathisa Pathirana and promising youngsters like Ayush Mhatre, Dewald Brewis and Anshul Kamboj.
The main focus of the franchise for the upcoming auction will be to strengthen its top order with an explosive overseas batsman and include more Indian fast bowlers to enhance its bowling depth.
