Virat Kohli’s participation in the upcoming ODI series against England depends on his fitness. Yet, the buzz about the batting maestro intensified after a video where he was seen with former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar for some training amid the India vs England white ball series.

The India vs England white-ball series has started with a rain-washed match in Birmingham. After the ongoing 5-match T20 series, the Indian cricket team will face England for a three-match ODI series starting from July 14.

Doubt remains over Virat Kohli’s participation in India vs England ODI series

The senior batsman was originally named in the 15-man squad for the three-match ODI series. Nevertheless, his chances of playing in it remain uncertain as he suffered a hamstring injury during the IPL 2026 final while batting for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

A few days ago, ahead of India’s tour of the United Kingdom, he was seen at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. Since then, there has been no concrete report on the current fitness status of the former India captain. The viral video of the batsman and Sanjay Bangar has come as a ray of hope for the fans, who are eagerly waiting to see the batsman back in action for the Indian cricket team.

Sanjay Bangar played an important role as India’s former batting coach.

Sanjay Bangar was the batting coach of the national cricket team between 2014 and 2019, when Virat Kohli was at his peak. Sanjay is one of the few people who helped the batsman claim his true potential. Therefore, it is no surprise to see the batsman reuniting with the former Team India cricketer to recommit himself to the Indian cricket team.

In the video, viewers can see the two engaged in a long conversation after welcoming each other warmly. Indian batsmen entered the field with their kit bag hanging on their shoulders. According to media reports, the two were seen having a long discussion as the former cricketer provided guidance to the star batsman.

According to India Today, Virat Kohli recently underwent an intensive training block with Sanjay Bangar in Alibaug and Mumbai. The report on 2 July claimed, “Reports suggest that Kohli has recently undertaken an intensive training block with Bangar in Alibaug and Mumbai, with a particular focus on improving the technical aspects of his batting ahead of the series.”

Virat Kohli’s childhood coach shares an emotional message

Virat Kohli, who was in good form during the IPL 2026 season to defend the title with RCB, last played for India on January 18, 2026, in an ODI against New Zealand in Indore. This series was just a few days before the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma claims that people are waiting to see the great cricketer playing for India again.

“Definitely people are very excited, and everyone is excited for Virat. The whole country wants to see him when he comes back and like others, I too am waiting for him to come back on the field,” Rajkumar Sharma said during the Delhi Premier League 2026 auction.
