Former RCB captain Virat Kohli has once again found himself at the center of a storm after taking a dig at Gujarat Titans after the IPL 2026 final.
Defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore created history by becoming the third team to successfully defend their IPL title. RCB won their second IPL title in as many years by defeating Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Kohli played an important role in the victory by playing an inning of 75* runs and walked away with the Player of the Match award.
RCB won two consecutive IPL titles
On Sunday, RCB created history by winning its second consecutive IPL title at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Rajat Patidar’s decision to bowl first proved correct as GT’s famous opening pair of Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan were sent back in the powerplay.
Titans’ ploy to promote Nishant Sindhu did not work and it was not a good day for Jos Buttler either. Washington Sundar hit a half-century and Arshad Khan played an impressive cameo, but GT got only 156 runs.
Rasikh Salam was the star of the show by taking three wickets, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar also took two wickets.
Virat Kohli and Venkatesh Iyer set out to chase it as fast as possible. The opening pair scored 62 runs in just 4.3 overs and when the powerplay ended, the required rate was less than a run-a-ball.
After the powerplay, however, GT struggled and affected the collapse, but Kohli scored an unbeaten 75 to guide RCB to victory. Kohli himself scored the winning run and won the Player of the Match award.
Virat Kohli trolled GT after the victory
During RCB’s trophy celebrations, Kohli was seen taking a dig at Gujarat Titans and their branding.
Now in the video going viral, Kohli is seen talking to Mr. Nags of RCB. Mr. Neggs is a character played by comedian turned influencer Danish Sait and he has been with RCB since 2014.
Kohli was heard saying, trophy call in and home java day, thank you so much.”
Kohli’s words could be interpreted as, “Let the trophy come to us, and let me go home, thank you very much,” but “Awaa De” is the tagline of Gujarat Titans.
GT captain Shubman Gill has been taking Instagram by storm with his caption game after each of his team’s wins this season.
